How rules cascade

Rules at /Clients flow down to /Clients/Acme/Projects automatically.

Rules cascade from broader scopes down to narrower ones. A rule on /Clients/ applies to /Clients/Acme/ and all its descendants automatically — you do not copy or paste anything.

Conflict resolution

When two rules conflict, the more specific one wins — file-level beats folder-level, folder beats parent folder, child folder beats root. Factory rules at any level always win over user rules at the same level (but a user rule one level deeper can override a factory rule above it).

Inspecting the cascade

Open Folder Rules on any folder and click "Show inherited" — you'll see every rule that applies, with the originating level next to each one.
